Welcome!

Interested in gardening? Join the club! Membership is $20 a year for single membership, or $25 per family.
(8 sessions - September - November and January - May) We also offer Members Only events and workshops occasionally. Members receive monthly emails (or slightly more frequently, depending on events).
To join, simply send an e-transfer to smbgardeningclub@gmail.com for the appropriate amount (mentioned above) then send an email with your name and contact info (including phone number) to smbgardeningclub@gmail.com When you come to your first meeting, check in and say hi! Our meetings start promptly at 7 pm and usually end about 8:30 pm. We are centrally located in the welcoming St. Luke's United Church, 5374 St. Margaret's Bay Rd. in Upper Tantallon. The church is fully accessible and has lots of parking.

Our Speaker is Steve Farley - The Optimistic Gardener

He is sure to inspire us with his positive and fun approach to gardening!
"I’m Steve, a kitchen garden coach, organic gardener, YouTuber and cooking enthusiast living in beautiful Nova Scotia, Canada. Originally from London, England, I joined the Royal Navy when I was sixteen and served for Her Majesty for the next 26 years. I spent most of my Service life living in the beautiful county of Cornwall, in the south-west of England. The peculiar climate down there, due to being washed by the warming waters of the Gulf Stream, mean you can grow all sorts of sub-tropical plants and this peculiar mix of sub-tropical and good old English plants, fueled my love of gardening. I moved to Nova Scotia, Canada, with my wife Sara and son Ethan, seven years ago. When I moved to Nova Scotia I gained a British gardener’s dream – space! I now have a developing garden on a 1 acre plot, where I can grow lots of fruit and veg and still have lots of space for flowers and shrubs of all sorts. I decided to share my love of gardening and talking about it, so started up my YouTube channel “The Optimistic Gardener” and then thought I would expand and share my love of cooking, especially using the lovely fruit and veg that I grow. As a Kitchen Garden Coach my mission is to inspire you to transform your food and cooking by using seasonal ingredients fresh from your very own kitchen garden!"
