in the meeting room at the Tantallon Library. Please note, this is a new time and a new venue! Guests are always welcome to attend our meetings!

Gardening Club Bursary 2014

The SMBGC is offering a $500 bursary to a student from the Bay area who will be attending a full-time, post-secondary program focusing on horticultural science, plant studies or related fields of endeavour. Apply now!

Who can apply:

The applicant must be from the St. Margaret’s Bay Nova Scotia area, which extends from West Dover to Bayswater and inland from the Bay a distance of 15 km; and

Must be attending or be accepted into a full-time study program at a post-secondary institution on plant study and use, including but not limited to horticulture, landscape architecture, hybridization, nursery management, horticultural therapy.

The applicant is to submit a letter containing the following information to the Bursary Committee by June 20th, 2014:

Applicant’s name, home address, and email address

Describe reasons for choosing this area of study and plans for using the expertise upon graduation

Describe how the bursary will assist in furthering the applicant’s post-secondary education

Provide any additional information on past work experience, volunteer activity, or projects conducted in the horticultural or related field.

Provide a copy of the acceptance letter or verification of current study in the relevant program

Provide two supporting references from teachers or employers

Mail the completed application letter with supporting documentation to:

Bursary Award:

A three-person Bursary Committee will review all applications and the SMBGC will award the $500.00 bursary.
