Gardeners Helping Gardeners
Please note that order forms and dates for 2012 are now being compiled and will be posted as soon as they are ready
The SMBGC assists paid-up members in accessing high quality garden products. We organize special bulk orders, invite local nursery owners to attend club meetings with products for sale, hold member plant exchanges, and alert members to local sales and gardening events. Club orders for 2011 are described below. Once prepared, order forms will be available by clicking on links at the left of this section and at regular meetings.
Compost Order: February/March
Rich quality compost and mulch have been ordered from Bonny Lea Farm for several years. The compost is 1 part aged chicken manure and 3 parts bark mulch, packaged in 2 cubic foot poly bags. Bonny Lea Farm is a not-for-profit facility located on the South Shore for individuals with mental handicaps. This year, because of the construction of a new production barn at Bonny Lea, they will not have any mulch ready. However, they will be able to deliver compost.Completed order forms and payment must be handed in at or before the March meeting. See order form for alternate method of submitting your order. Details of May pickup of compost will be posted on the calendar.
See our policies on

Perennial Order: February/March
Assorted perennials (see photos in pictures of perennials) from IrisPlus, a perennial nursery located in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, will be offered. We have been happy with the quality of their products in the past. Most plants are shipped as bare roots. Plants selected for the order are new offerings, always popular, or never ordered before. A range of sizes, heights and colours is also considered. Completed order forms and payment must be handed in at or before the March meeting. See order form for alternate method of submitting your order. Details of May pickup of plants will be posted on the calendar.
